Services

We have resumed taking appointments for restorations, custom build work, and specialty repair for the Summer of 2023!  We no longer do any mobile repair or service.  All work is now done by appointment only at our Western Massachusetts facility.

Pricing

Pricing varies according to the project and customer desires.  But, everyone always wants to know approximately what they are getting into before contacting us. Please note that these are the base labor charges not including parts. So here are the starting prices for services we offer:

Consulting:

$75 - Consulting includes an in-person, or virtual tour of our current inventory. We can show you any frames and components which are currently available in detail. This includes items listed for sale in the shop, and anything unlisted in our exclusive stash. Consulting charge is refunded if if you commission a restoration or custom build, and it is discounted if you buy parts or other restoration materials from us.

Frame, Fork and Machine Services:

$99-Up - Frame and fork machine services generally include frame and fork alignment (no damage repair at this time) on steel frames and rigid forks.  Alignment and dropout spacing adjustments for steel frames and forks. Head tube machining. Headset removal/installation. Threaded fork chasing and crown facing. Threadless fork crown facing. Face and chase threaded bottom brackets including English, Italian and French threaded. We can also preserve original paint and finish work, as well as provide internal frame preservation. We also do seat post removal and quill stem removal in most cases. Seat tube machining and honing. Remove stripped bolts. Remove cranks with stripped extractor threads. We can also remove and re-install cottered cranks, and remove/service cup and cone bottom brackets. Wheel truing, wheel building, and rim brake track resurfacing are also available. We also rebuild or service most vintage suspension forks (not currently servicing Head Shok or Lefty forks).

If you are a DIY bicycle builder, but don't have all of the tools required, we can help you!

Base Restoration/Custom Build:

$299-Up - We offer meticulous restoration work on all types of bicycles ranging from high-end, rare and exotic bikes, to bicycles with high sentimental value for our customers. We can do the detailed work that most high volume bike shops won’t do, or just can’t do economically.

We do not build frames, but we do build custom bicycles per our customers specifications. Customer supplied, or from our inventory. Selecting frames, forks or components from our inventory includes a discount on those items.

We specialize in reviving and modernizing vintage and retro bicycles. This includes straightening and aligning steel frames, re-spacing dropouts for modern wheel sizing, single speed/fixie conversions, 1x conversions, flat-to-drop bar/drop-to-flat bar conversions, Klunkers, etc. Base Restorations or Custom Builds do not typically include paint, plating, polishing or any other finish work beyond preserving original finishes. But these elements may be added in at extra cost.

Concours Restoration:

$999-Up - We typically prefer a "positive patina" approach to our builds, but if you need your bike to be a perfect restoration, we do offer those services. We do not do painting, plating, anodizing, or powder coating services in-house, but we can source these services for your build. Be warned, it gets expensive quickly.
